Naloxone saves lives. It should be in every medicine cabinet, every backpack, every glove box.
What Is Naloxone?
Naloxone is an opioid antagonist. It temporarily blocks opioid receptors, reversing respiratory depression caused by heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, and other opioids. It has no effect on people who do not have opioids in their system — it is completely safe to administer even if you are unsure.

How to Use Naloxone
Narcan nasal spray: Tilt the person’s head back, insert the nozzle into one nostril, press the plunger firmly. Call 911. If no response in 2-3 minutes, administer a second dose in the other nostril. Stay with the person — naloxone wears off in 30-90 minutes.
Who Should Carry Naloxone?
Anyone who lives with, works with, or cares about someone who uses opioids — prescribed or otherwise. Parents, partners, friends, coworkers, first responders, and the person themselves.
